The Maple Avenue Steakhouse Dallas Treats as a Default
Nick and Sam's has been the Uptown steakhouse of record for long enough that Dallas books it without discussion. It sits on Maple Avenue, a short ride from the Crescent and the hotels around it, and it remains one of the city's reliable big-night rooms.
Booking a Group Here, Honestly
Nick and Sam's does not publish its private dining rooms or their capacities, which is unusual for a steakhouse of its standing and worth saying plainly rather than inventing a number.
| What you want to know | What is actually published |
|---|---|
| Named private rooms | Not published |
| Seated private capacity | Not published |
| Venue-wide maximum | Listed by a third party at 300, unconfirmed by the restaurant |
| Dress code | Not published |
This is where a concierge earns the fee. We call the events team, get the room and the number in writing, and come back to you with something you can plan around. What we will not do is repeat a capacity we cannot stand behind.
If you need a confirmed number today
| Headcount | A steakhouse that publishes its capacity |
|---|---|
| Up to 18 | Town Hearth, Mr. Presley's |
| Up to 60 | The Capital Grille, two rooms combined |
| Up to 80 | Pappas Bros. |
| Up to 180 | Del Frisco's, second floor |
For a table for four on a Friday, Nick and Sam's is a phone call. For forty, let us confirm the room first: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Knox Street, Thirty-Eight Foot Ceilings, and a Name Michelin Got Wrong
Mister Charles is Duro Hospitality's irreverent French and Italian room, opened in July 2023 inside the landmarked former Highland Park Soda Fountain building on Knox Street. Thirty-eight foot ceilings, a rare wine list, and an address people routinely get wrong.
Mister Charles Is Not The Charles
These are two different restaurants from the same group, and confusing them will send your car to the wrong side of town.
| Mister Charles | The Charles | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Knox Street, 3219 Knox St | Design District |
| Opened | July 2023 | 2018 |
| Building | The old Highland Park Soda Fountain | A separate venue entirely |
The Michelin Guide made this exact mistake at its Texas launch in November 2024, listing The Charles when the recommendation belonged to Mister Charles. Michelin called it a geolocation error and corrected it. If a guide can get it wrong, a rideshare certainly can.
The menu is French and Italian without the reverence, and the wine list runs to genuinely rare bottles. The room is the draw as much as the food: a landmarked shell with the ceiling height to prove it.
Private dining and buyouts
| Option | Capacity |
|---|---|
| The Mezzanine | Up to 26 seated |
| Full restaurant buyout | Up to 160 |
Twenty-six on the mezzanine is a comfortable seated private dinner. The jump to a 160 buyout is the largest single step in our dining collection, so there is little in between here.
We book the right Charles, at the right address, with the car pointed at Knox Street: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

No dress code is published. The group's portfolio page lists a Market Center Boulevard address, which belongs to a sibling property, not to Mister Charles.
Two Rooms, One Reputation, Since 1998
Al Biernat's has been a Dallas steak and seafood fixture since 1998 and now runs two locations, the Oak Lawn flagship and a North Dallas room. It is the steakhouse where the owner has historically known the regulars by name, which is a harder thing to franchise than a dry-ager.
Which Location, and Why It Matters
| Location | Book it when |
|---|---|
| Oak Lawn | You are staying Uptown or downtown, and want the original room |
| North Dallas | Your group is coming from the north suburbs or the Tollway corridor |
Both operate their own private dining and both publish their own dress code, which is a level of per-location detail most groups do not expect and should ask about. We check the specific room at the specific location rather than assuming the two match.
What we can say with confidence is the character: steaks and seafood at the top of the market, a long Dallas history, and service built on recognition rather than script.
What we confirm before booking a group here
- Which location suits your group's origin, since the two are a genuine drive apart.
- The private dining room and its seated capacity for that location. Both publish per-location pages and we read the right one.
- The dress code for that location, which is published separately for each.
- Whether a chauffeured SUV makes more sense than two cars, which for six or more it usually does.
Tell us where your group is starting from and we will pick the room: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Per-location private dining capacities and dress codes are published by the restaurant but are not reproduced here. We confirm the current figures directly at booking rather than quoting numbers we have not verified.
A Korean Steakhouse With a Two Hundred and Eighty-Seven Person Ceiling
Nuri opened on Cedar Springs Road in August 2024: a Korean-influenced steakhouse, roughly 9,500 square feet designed by AvroKO, built around Texas Akaushi beef and a Seoul-trained culinary director. It is the newest serious steakhouse in Uptown and the largest by buyout.
What Makes Nuri Different From the Rest of the Block
| Element | Nuri |
|---|---|
| Kitchen | Culinary Director Minji Kim, from Seoul, with Executive Chef Mario Hernandez |
| Beef | Texas Akaushi HeartBrand Reserve, including a 40-ounce porterhouse |
| Signatures | Korean-style lobster with soy butter rice, dual steak tartare, wagyu dumplings |
| Design | AvroKO, on a reported $20 million build |
Hernandez arrives via Del Frisco's and Gordon Ramsay North America, so the steakhouse fundamentals are not an afterthought behind the Korean framing. Both traditions are being taken seriously, which is the whole proposition.
One clarification worth making, because it appears elsewhere in garbled form: chef Minji Kim is Michelin-recognized for work in Seoul. That credential belongs to the chef. Nuri itself does not hold a Michelin distinction.
Event spaces, and a note on confidence
| Space | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Private Room | 40 |
| Gangnam Room | 50 |
| Jade Terrace | 56 |
| Main Dining Room | 149 |
| Full buyout, banquet | 287 |
The 40-seat private room is corroborated across sources. The larger figures come from a single listing, so we confirm them with the restaurant before committing a party of that size.
For a large group that wants something other than another prime ribeye, this is the newest answer in Uptown: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Five Private Rooms, All Wired, Starting at Eight Seats
The Capital Grille at Crescent Court is the most flexible private-dining operation among the Dallas steakhouses. Five rooms, every one of them audiovisual equipped, from an eight-seat boardroom to sixty when two combine. Dry-aged steaks, and a wine list carrying a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence held since 2020.
The Rooms, and Which One Fits
| Room | Seated | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Victory Room | 8 | A working dinner that is really a meeting |
| Board Room | 12 | The deal dinner |
| Mustang Room | 30 | A department |
| Lone Star Room | 30 | The same, or the other half |
| Mustang and Lone Star combined | 60 | The largest seated option here |
| Wine Room | 36 | When the list is the theme |
| The Patio | 36 | Weather permitting, which in Dallas is most of the year |
Every room being A/V equipped is the quiet differentiator. A presentation at a steakhouse usually means a projector on a cart and an apology; here it is part of the room.
The wine program runs more than 350 selections with an on-site kiosk. The Best of Award of Excellence is Wine Spectator's middle tier, which is a real distinction and not the Grand Award that Pappas Bros. holds.
Dallas or Fort Worth
There is one Capital Grille in Dallas proper, at 500 Crescent Court in Uptown, and a separate location in Fort Worth. If your group is staying downtown Fort Worth, we book that one instead rather than sending you up the highway.
- Dallas, Uptown: 500 Crescent Court, (214) 303-0500
- A second DFW location operates in Fort Worth
Give us the headcount and whether anyone is presenting, and we will pick the room: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Evelyn
Three Rooms, One Address, and a Night That Decides Its Own Length
Evelyn is an Old Hollywood steak and seafood house that opened in March 2025, and it is built as three connected rooms rather than one dining room. Where you sit determines what kind of evening you have.
Pick Your Room Before You Book
The 9,500 square foot space splits into a dining room, a bar, and a lounge that runs late. Reserving without choosing is how a dinner turns into a nightclub by accident, or the reverse.
| Room | What it is | Book it for |
|---|---|---|
| The Piano Room | The main dining room | Dinner that is actually about dinner |
| The Ruby Room | The bar | Drinks first, or a shorter night |
| Room Seven | Disco lounge, open to 2am Thursday to Saturday | The part of the evening nobody planned |
The kitchen leans theatrical in a way that suits the room. Wagyu Cheesesteak Bites arrive as a tower, caviar comes by the bump, and Texas Wagyu strip and Miyazaki A5 are finished tableside on hot lava rock. It is dinner as performance, which is the entire premise of the place.
Evelyn sits on Turtle Creek Boulevard at the edge of the Design District, which puts it a short ride from Uptown hotels and closer than you would guess to downtown. Interiors are by ICRAVE, and the operator is Reach Hospitality.
Booking Evelyn for a group, and what to confirm
| Ask about | Why |
|---|---|
| Private dining capacity | Evelyn runs private events but does not publish a seated number. Confirm before you promise a headcount |
| Dress code | The room is dressy and the lounge more so. Confirm the current policy when booking |
| Room Seven access | Late-night lounge hours are Thursday to Saturday |
| Arrival | Design District parking is a real consideration. A chauffeured SUV removes it |
We hold the table, match the room to the evening, and put a car outside when you are ready to leave. Tell us the date and the headcount: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Private dining capacity and the current dress code are not published. We confirm both with the restaurant when we book.
Georgie
The Knox Street Room That Keeps Reinventing Itself
Georgie opened in late 2019 as a wood-fire steakhouse and has changed direction more than once since. As of late 2025 it is under chef Bruno Davaillon and moving toward refined seasonal French. Book it for the kitchen, and ask what the kitchen is doing this month.
What Changed, and Why It Matters Before You Book
Two things people still believe about Georgie are out of date. Getting them right avoids an awkward arrival.
| The old story | Where it stands now |
|---|---|
| "Georgie by Curtis Stone" | The partnership ended around 2023 and the name dropped his |
| A wood-fire steakhouse | Chef Bruno Davaillon is steering it to seasonal French |
| A fixed signature menu | Fifth executive chef in six years, so the menu moves |
| An anonymous operator | Owned by Dallas restaurateur Stephan Courseau, of Le Bilboquet |
None of that is a warning. Davaillon is a serious kitchen and the room on Travis Street remains one of the prettier dining rooms in the Knox District. It is simply a restaurant where you should confirm the current menu rather than order from memory or from a three-year-old review.
Georgie has historically been a place for a considered dinner rather than a boisterous one, and it built part of its reputation on an unapologetically expensive steak.
Private dining and group options
| Space | Capacity | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Private Dining Room | Up to 12 seated | A seated dinner, the usual choice |
| The Butcher Shop | Up to 25 standing | Cocktail reception |
Twelve seated is the ceiling for a proper dinner. Larger parties are better served at Monarch or Nick and Sam's.
We confirm the current chef, the current menu, and the room before you arrive, then handle the reservation and the ride. Tell us the date: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Stillwell's
Akaushi Beef Raised for One Restaurant, Seven Floors Above Harwood
Stillwell's is the steakhouse on the seventh floor of Hôtel Swexan, and its argument is the beef. HWD Harwood Premium Beef is Akaushi cattle raised exclusively for the group and aged 28 days or more, which is a supply chain almost no restaurant controls.
Why the Beef Program Is the Whole Story
Most steakhouses buy prime beef on the open market and compete on aging and cooking. Stillwell's owns the animal.
| Element | Stillwell's |
|---|---|
| Breed | Akaushi, the Japanese red cattle breed |
| Sourcing | HWD Harwood Premium Beef, raised exclusively for Harwood |
| Aging | 28 days or more |
| Recognition | Michelin Guide recommended, 2024 and 2025 |
The room is art-deco western, named for the Texas rancher Hallie Stillwell, and it holds one of the larger wine cellars in the city. Food and beverage is led by Raymond Bocanegra, whose résumé runs through the Broadmoor, the Ritz-Carlton Denver, and Rosewood Miramar Beach.
Cowboy Hour runs 4pm to 6pm daily with half-price cocktails, which is the cheapest way to see the room before committing to a full dinner.
The dress code, stated plainly
Stillwell's publishes its policy, which is more than most Dallas rooms do. Worth reading before you dress.
| Expected | |
|---|---|
| Gentlemen | Long trousers, well-maintained jeans, casual suits, polos, appropriate shoes |
| Ladies | Trousers, dresses, blouses, skirts |
| Not permitted | Beachwear, sports attire, casual shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops |
Hôtel Swexan handles private events for the restaurant, and we handle the table, the timing, and the car. Tell us the date and the headcount: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Open Flame, Forty Chandeliers, and a Room That Refuses to Whisper
Town Hearth is Nick Badovinus's open-flame steakhouse in the Design District, and it is the least restrained dining room in Dallas: dozens of chandeliers, a large custom fish tank, and a Delmonico cooked over fire. Everything about it is on purpose.
What to Know Before You Book
| Detail | Town Hearth |
|---|---|
| Cooking | Open flame, aged steaks and seafood |
| Chef and owner | Nick Badovinus |
| Private room | Mr. Presley's, up to 18 seated |
| Parking | Daily valet, which the Design District rewards |
Eighteen seated in Mr. Presley's is the honest ceiling for a private dinner here. Above that, the room itself is the event, and a buyout conversation starts.
One thing that alarms people needlessly: the old townhearth.com address now redirects to the restaurant group's site. That is a consolidation, not a closure. Town Hearth is open and serving dinner.
Design District steakhouses, side by side
| Room | Largest private seating | The character |
|---|---|---|
| Town Hearth | 18 | Maximalist, loud, open flame |
| Evelyn | Not published | Old Hollywood, with a lounge until 2am |
| El Carlos Elegante | 16 seated, 146 buyout | Mexico City, wood fire, mezcal |
We book the table, and the car means nobody negotiates Market Center Boulevard parking. Tell us the night: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

A Wine Spectator Grand Award and Beef Butchered in the Building
Pappas Bros. Steakhouse dry-ages and butchers its own USDA Prime beef in house for at least 28 days, and pours from a wine list that has earned the Wine Spectator Grand Award. For a dinner where the cellar matters as much as the ribeye, this is the Dallas room.
Why the Grand Award Is the Headline
Wine Spectator's Grand Award is the top of its three tiers and is held by only a small number of restaurants worldwide. It is not a participation ribbon, and it changes how you should order.
| Element | Pappas Bros. Dallas |
|---|---|
| Beef | USDA Prime, butchered in house, dry-aged at least 28 days |
| Wine list | Wine Spectator Grand Award, a list running to nearly 200 pages |
| Guidance | A Master Sommelier led program, so ask rather than guess |
| Private dining | Four rooms, seating 8 to 80 |
Eighty seated is a genuinely large private capacity for a steakhouse, and the four rooms include a wine room and a fireplace lounge. Private events carry a food and beverage minimum and come with an event coordinator, audiovisual support, and custom menus.
A common mix-up worth settling: there is one Pappas Bros. in Dallas, on Lombardy Lane near Love Field. The others are in Houston.
Where Pappas Bros. sits among the classics
| If your priority is | Book |
|---|---|
| The wine list, above everything | Pappas Bros. |
| A large private party with a skyline | Monarch, up to 250 seated |
| Akaushi raised for one restaurant | Stillwell's |
| Uptown, and a scene with it | Del Frisco's, up to 180 seated |
Tell us the headcount and whether the evening is about the wine, and we will set the room: ask the concierge or request a reservation.
Sources and references
Private-room capacities are the restaurant's published range and we reconfirm at booking. The bottle count and the year the Grand Award was first held are not verified here.
A Ninety-Seat Terrace at Rosewood Court
Ocean Prime is the Cameron Mitchell supper club at Rosewood Court in Uptown: prime steak, fresh seafood, and five private spaces topped by a 2,500 square foot terrace that seats ninety. Note the name has no S. It is Ocean Prime.
The Five Private Spaces
| Space | Seated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| The Terrace | 90 | 2,500 square feet, 150 for a reception |
| Magnolia Room | 30 | The largest indoor room |
| Rose Room | 24 | |
| Pearl Room | 20 | |
| Club Room | 14 | The intimate one |
Corporate copy from the group sometimes says four private rooms. That counts the four indoor spaces; the terrace is the fifth and, for most groups, the interesting one.
The room sits across from the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, which makes it a short walk rather than a drive for anyone staying there. Lunch runs weekdays, dinner nightly.
Terrace or indoors, and how Dallas weather decides
| Month | The honest advice |
|---|---|
| March to May | Terrace, and book it early |
| June to August | Indoors, unless the event is late evening |
| September to November | Terrace, the best stretch of the year |
| December to February | Indoors, and the Magnolia Room at 30 |
Tell us the headcount and the month and we will pick the space accordingly: ask the concierge or request a reservation.
Sources and references
The correct name is Ocean Prime, singular. No dress code is published for the Dallas location.
Monarch Restaurant
Forty-Nine Floors Up, and Italian Rather Than Steak
Monarch sits on the 49th floor of The National downtown, roughly 600 feet above Elm Street, and it is a wood-fired modern Italian restaurant from two-Michelin-star chef Danny Grant. The view is the draw. The pasta is the reason you stay.
What Monarch Actually Is
It is frequently mistaken for a steakhouse because it cooks over fire and charges accordingly. The menu says otherwise.
| Assumption | Reality |
|---|---|
| It is a steakhouse | Wood-fired modern Italian: handmade pastas, wood-fired meats, premium seafood |
| The view is a gimmick | Floor-to-ceiling glass at about 600 feet, looking toward Reunion Tower |
| It is a hotel restaurant | Chef-driven, from a chef holding two Michelin stars elsewhere |
| You go straight up | Guests are handed champagne before the elevator ride |
The room opened in 2021 and remains the best skyline dining in the city, which is a claim the Dallas Morning News made at the time and which nothing since has seriously challenged. Kessaku, a sushi restaurant, shares the floor, so a group that cannot agree has an unusual out.
Large parties and buyouts
| Format | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Semi-private long table | 16 seated |
| Event spaces on the floor | 5 spaces |
| Full buyout, seated | Up to 250 |
| Full buyout, standing | Up to 400 |
This is the largest published private capacity of any room in our dining collection, which makes Monarch the default for a corporate dinner that outgrew a private room.
For a big group with a view, this is the booking. We handle the table, the floor, and the cars downstairs: ask the concierge or request a reservation.
Sources and references

Bob's Steak and Chop House
The Steakhouse That Puts a Glazed Carrot Next to a Prime Ribeye
Bob's Steak and Chop House opened in Dallas in 1993 on Lemmon Avenue and became a Texas classic on unfussy terms: prime beef, generous pours, and a large glazed carrot that arrives with every steak whether or not anyone asked.
What Bob's Is, and Is Not
| Bob's | |
|---|---|
| Founded | Dallas, 1993 |
| Style | Classic prime steakhouse, dark wood, no reinvention |
| The signature | The glazed carrot, which is not a joke and not optional |
| The register | Old-school rather than designed, which is the appeal |
Book it when someone in the party wants a steakhouse that has not been reconsidered by a hospitality group in the last five years. It is the counterweight to the newer Uptown rooms, and there is a real audience for that.
What we confirm before booking
- Private dining rooms and capacities, which Bob's does not publish. We get them from the restaurant.
- Which location you mean. The Lemmon Avenue room is the Dallas original; other Bob's locations exist and a downtown Dallas address appears in some listings that we verify rather than assume.
- Any dress code, which is not published.
- The car, because Lemmon Avenue parking is not the fun part of the evening.
Old-school, on purpose, and we will get you the table: ask the concierge or request a reservation.
Sources and references
Private dining capacities, dress code, and the existence of a second Dallas location are not verified here. We confirm each directly before booking.
One Hundred and Eighty Seated on the Second Floor
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in Uptown is the Dallas flagship of the brand, and its private-event capacity is the reason corporate Dallas keeps its number. Prime steak, seafood, a patio with skyline views, and an upscale dress code that is enforced.
The Private Event Spaces, by Capacity
Four spaces that scale from a boardroom dinner to a company-wide evening without moving venues.
| Space | Seated | Reception |
|---|---|---|
| Eagle 1 | 20 | 30 |
| Eagle 2 | 60 | 90 |
| Double Eagle | 90 | 130 |
| Second Floor | 180 | 250 |
The dress code is worth taking seriously, because it is stated as enforced rather than suggested. Tell your group before they leave the hotel, not in the lobby.
A point of confusion to settle: the original North Dallas location on Spring Valley closed in 2016 and moved to Uptown. A widely reported 2025 Del Frisco's closure was Century City in Los Angeles. Dallas is open, on Olive Street.
Choosing between the big private rooms in Dallas
| Headcount | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Up to 60 | The Capital Grille, two rooms combined |
| Up to 80 | Pappas Bros., and the wine list |
| Up to 90 seated on a terrace | Ocean Prime |
| Up to 180 | Del Frisco's second floor |
| Up to 250 | Monarch, 49 floors up |
For the annual dinner that has outgrown a private room, this is the shortlist's top. Tell us the headcount and the date: ask the concierge or request a reservation.

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
There are steakhouses that put a pair of longhorns on the wall and call it "authentic." And then there's Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, which draws its heritage from an actual internationally renowned Texas Hill Country ranch — complete with real artifacts, real history, and steak preparation techniques that have been perfected over 125 years of chuck wagon grilling. The Dallas Morning News named it Best Steakhouse in DFW five years running, and Food Network called it one of the nation's finest. At some point, the accolades become redundant. The menu reads like a love letter to the land: hand-cut USDA Prime steaks alongside wild game selections including bison, elk, venison, quail, and antelope — for those evenings when regular beef feels too predictable. The bone marrow sundae exists, and yes, it's exactly as audacious as it sounds. The dining room wraps you in rustic Texas ranch décor that somehow manages to feel elegant rather than themed, which is harder to pull off than most restaurants realize. Located at 702 Ross Ave in the Dallas Arts District. Reservations recommended — call (214) 744-3287.
Al Biernat's
Al Biernat spent fifteen years as General Manager at the Palm before deciding in 1998 that Dallas deserved a steakhouse built on one simple premise: do everything exceptionally well, and never stop. Nearly three decades later, that premise has aged better than the Wagyu in the walk-in. The Oak Lawn dining room radiates refined elegance without a shred of pretension — the kind of place where you'll see power lunches, anniversary dinners, and the occasional celebrity who chose Dallas specifically because this restaurant exists. The menu is a masterclass in knowing your audience. Al's Salad — hearts of palm, avocado, shrimp, and crab with Russian or garlic vinaigrette — has achieved legendary status among regulars who would genuinely consider relocating if it ever left the menu. The steaks source from Gearhart Ranch Texas Wagyu and Allen Brothers, with a tomahawk ribeye that arrives at your table looking like it was carved by someone who takes their craft personally. Ray's Meatloaf with whipped potatoes and red wine demi-glace is the kind of comfort food that makes you wonder why you ever ate meatloaf anywhere else. Located at 4217 Oak Lawn Ave in the heart of Oak Lawn. For reservations, call (214) 219-2201.

In a state where cattle ranching is practically a founding principle, Dallas steakhouses don't just serve beef — they honor it. We're talking hand-cut USDA Prime, dry-aged to perfection, and prepared by people who treat a cast iron skillet with the reverence most cities reserve for modern art.
From century-old chuck wagon grilling traditions to polished fine dining rooms where the wine list has its own sommelier and your salad has its own fan club, Dallas steakhouses are where Texas swagger meets white-tablecloth precision. Come hungry. Leave impressed.
