About This Service
Frisco Gun Club runs a European-style hunter and shooter training program built to sharpen technique and the instincts behind a clean shot. Dallas VIP hosts your visit and books the session, so all you need to bring is your aim.
In Europe, a hunting license takes hours of classroom training plus a live-fire qualification with your own rifle and a minimum score. The club adapted that model for American hunters. Nobody here requires it for a license, but the training pays off for hunters and sport shooters alike.
The session runs in three steps:
Step 1: Sighting In
Bring your hunting rifle and the club sights it in on a 100-yard enclosed, climate-controlled underground tunnel. The targeting system is paperless: sound-wave sensors detect each shot and show its placement on a screen beside the bench, with precise X and Y data and shot grouping, so an NRA-certified instructor can walk you through the elevation and windage changes for your scope.
Step 2: The SimulatorNext comes about 45 minutes in the shooting simulator, working on grip, stance, barrel swing and lead against moose, bear, whitetail, wild boar and more. You fire an eye-safe laser rifle at a screen about 12 feet away, and the software replays your barrel trace and reviews shot placement in 360 degrees, angled shots included. Repetition is the whole point, and an NRA-certified instructor stays with you the entire time.
Step 3: The Cinema Range
The finale is the Cinema Range: a 12 x 30 foot screen made from heavy-duty rolls of paper, playing film of nearly any game you like, from North American big game to Africa's Dangerous Seven. Up to four shooters fire live ammunition at the animals running across it, each with an NRA-certified range officer standing right behind them. Every shot freezes the film for two seconds and leaves a red dot the size of a silver dollar where the bullet went through, so you know instantly whether that one counted. Sessions start with slower animals and build to fast runners, usually 60 to 80 rounds in 45 minutes.
Bring your own rifle or pick from the club's Blazer rifles topped with Aimpoint red dot sights. Prefer something quicker? The carbine course swaps game for field runs and Olympic-style timed targets.
The program began as hunter training, and it turns out to be just as good for:
- Office team building and rewards
- Client entertainment
- Family outings and reunions
- Bachelor and birthday parties
- Friendly competition among friends
